Q-Bot has developed an innovative system for reducing heat loss through suspended timber floors using a robotic device to apply insulation. The robot can access the building through an external opening, and builds up a 3D map of the space, then applies the insulation, before finally inspecting and recording the job done. As the robot can fold and deploy through small openings, access can be made through an air vent in the outside wall, or through a small opening in the floor from within the property. This minimises disruption to residents and results in an installation time of 1-2 days.
